A deeper dive into our reconditioning process.
Reconditioning plays a crucial and comprehensive role in ensuring that we deliver reliable and safe stairlifts to you.
So, how do we go about it?
In this article, we will take a deeper dive into the way we at Mobility 1st recondition a stairlift from start to finish.
The process isn't as straightforward as one may think; it's complex and time consuming, necessitating thorough inspections and disassembly of the stairlift to guarantee that every component meets our high standards. It demands considerable patience and the expertise of a skilled engineer to ensure that no detail is overlooked. Our team consists of fully qualified engineers whose primary responsibility is not only to install these stairlifts but also to recondition and rigorously test them. With extensive experience gained from working for leading brands within the industry, our engineers bring a wealth of knowledge, ensuring that you are in capable hands. Their unparalleled commitment to providing the highest quality reconditioned stairlifts makes this a sound investment.
The aesthetic and hygienic aspects of stairlifts demand equal consideration and attention. We aim for them to function like new while also appearing as a well-maintained and cared for addition to your home.
We achieve this by dedicating significant resources to advanced cleaning technology, making us the only stairlift company known to utilise Vapour honing machines as part of our reconditioning process. This innovative cleaning method employs a built-in cabinet that directs a high-pressure jet of high temperature water and cleaning solution at the desired part, cutting through and removing grease and grime that has accumulated in previous environments, removing bacterial build up in the process. Finally, we thoroughly dry the rail divs that have been cleaned and inspected, this is done in an infrared heated room with drying racks.
Not all components of the stairlift can undergo vapor honing in our cabinets, which necessitates a three-stage inspection and cleaning process to guarantee a high level of cleanliness. We begin by disassembling removable parts, including plastic covers, seat pads, and other components. These items are then immersed in a heated citric solution for a deep soak. After sufficient soaking, we use low-speed orbital cleaning brushes to agitate the surfaces thoroughly. Once cleaned, the components are allowed to dry in a heated environment.
Once all the components are sufficiently dried they are treated with a 99.9% alcohol spray, effectively eliminating any risk of cross-contamination from germs and bacteria. Any exposed metal parts - including the rack and pinion track - have a generous coating of an inhibitor applied to prevent oxidation. The components are then sealed in a heavy duty packaging sleeve, guaranteeing our high standards of cleanliness are maintained from our shelves to your home.
The electrical system is of course kept well away from any soluble solutions, instead we thoroughly inspect and test the electrical system and components ensuring safe and reliable operation. Electrical components are gently dusted with a small handheld jet fan, this removes any dust that may have found its way onto these components. The stairlifts are cleared of any previous data stored from its original location before being reprogrammed onsite to learn and adapt to its new staircase configuration within your home.
Any components that fail, or may fail in the future (e.g. lift batteries, remote control battery, etc.) are replaced to ensure longevity.
This is without doubt one of the most critical aspects of the reconditioning process.
All of our re-conditioned stairlifts have micro-processor based systems that store information relevant to the safe operation of the device. Whenever they are fitted for use onsite, they are re-programmed to learn to adapt to the new staircase configuration of your home. We rigouroulsy check that this critical electronic subsytem is fully functional throughout our testing process.
Before any lift leaves our ware house we carry out a full evaluation and inspection. This involves a full re-assembly of the lift and mounting on our in-house testing rails, allowing us to inspect and evaluate the unit is a real case scenario. Components and sytems are fully checked to make sure that all current safety and legal standards are adhered to or exceeded.
At Mobility 1st, we want to make sure that any re-conditioned product we install is more than fit for prupose - both functionaly and aesthetically.
We will never fit a stairlift we wouldn't be happy fitting into one of our own loved ones home.
It is very likely that the angineer who fits your stairlift will have been the person who also reconditioned and tested the unit, ensuring a higher level of care and attention to detail to our customers.
